Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala has urged the representatives of the party’s 14th general convention to cast their votes by using their conscience in the voting process. Talking to the media persons at Bhrikutimandap Monday, Dr Koirala urged the representatives to use their conscience while casting voates and added that he himself would use his conscience by being neutral. Dr Koirala also said that he was not in any panel of the competing presidency and office-bearers while adding that he would vote independently.
The general convention representatives have queued up at the voting stations at the Rashtriya Sabha Griha and Bhrikutimandap for electing their new leader.
According to the party Central Election Committee 487 candidates are vying for 134 posts. As per the Nepali Congress statute, the election is held for 134 posts of the 167-member central working committee while the remaining 33 members including treasurer will be nominated by the party president.
