CPN (UML) Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has claimed that the UML is united after the recently concluded 10th national congress and returned to its mission and future course of action by gaining strength.

At a press meet organised by Chitwan chapter of Press Chautari Nepal at Bharatpur on Mondayh, Bhattarai has expressed the view that the UML has been moving forward with a target to win more than 50 per cent seats in local levels and to get majority in federation and provinces, adding the strength gained by the party from the 10th national congress would be visible in coming elections.

Claiming that more than 700 thousand people had participated in the inaugural of the main opposition party ‘s national congress, Bhattarai said, “We have made a record. The Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) have decided not to organise mass gathering in their national convention being unable to break this record.”     He argued that overall democratic norms and values are being breached due to coalition government and the executive has been collapsed due to politics of sharing of posts.  There would be competition only between CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress in the upcoming Parliament elections in Nepal, he pointed out.

In the first convention of the NC in Bagmati Province, which is being held in Hetauda,   voting for the chairman held for the second round on Sunday.

The re-polling took place after no one got 51 per cent of the cast votes in the first round. In province 1, Gururaj Ghimire is leading the vote count in the race for the party’s presidency in Province 1. Uddhav Thapa is following him.

Similarly, vote counting was continuing in Lumbini province with Ambar Bahadur Pun heading towards victory against Bharat Shah.
