Rajendra Lingdel, the only elected Parliament member belonging to Rastriya Prajatantra Party, was elected to the post of party president Sunday morning defeating the incumbent Chairman Kamal Thapa.
Lingden won the election held on Saturday during the party’s unity general convention by a margin of 227 votes.
Lingden secured as many as 1,844 votes out of 3,873 total votes. His contender, Thapa managed to secure 1,617 votes, according to party sources. As many as 431 votes were declared invalid during the counting that concluded Sunday morning.
Similarly, Bikram Pandey and Roshan Karki were declared elected for the post of vice president and Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana and Kunti Shahi for the post of general secretary. Pandey and Rana were elected for open contesting seat while Karki and Shahi elected for women seat.
