ILO Director calls on Labour Minister Shrestha

Nepal Director of International Labour Organization (ILO) Richard Howard on Monday paid a courtesy call on Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha at the Labour Ministry in Kathmandu. During the meeting matters relating to Nepal’s partership and collaboration with the ILO mainly featured, according to sources close to minister Shrestha.

On the occasion minister Shrestha appreciated ILO for supporting Nepal government’s efforts to improve labour administration and implementation of Sustainable Development Goals and prepration of the National Report.

Minister Shrestha also expressed hope that ILO will provide help in the efforts being made by Nepal Government in declaring all the local levels in the country free from child labour. Nepal government is committed to ensuring rights of all the labourers keeping with its commitment to maintaining the dignity of labourers. ILO Director Howard wished for successful tenure of minister Shrestha and assured for having more collaboration and cooperation during his tenure as the labour minister. Nepal became the member of ILO, an specialized institution of the United Nations and A programme known as dignified labaour is currently being implemented in Nepal in 2018-22 under the technical cooperation of ILO.
