The Federation of Handicrafts Association of Nepal has announced to organize 18th Handicraft Trade Fair and 16th Craft Competition from November 19 to 21 at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Bouddha, Kathmandu. The trade fair is being organized with the objectives of preserving Nepalese original crafts, art and artifacts as well as promoting Nepalese handicrafts in the international arena.
Nepalese handicraft industry has been hard hit by the Covid – 19 pandemic. “As the international market for handicraft goods have been severely affected by the pandemic, there is a need for promoting handicrafts in the domestic market,” reads a press release issued by the Federation.
The trade fair being organized with different concept this time, is expected to energize the handicraft sector of Nepal, the press release adds.
There will be more than 120 stalls during the event, which is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors. Around three dozen varieties of handicraft items, meant for export purposes will be showcased during the three day event. ekalanepal, an online portal will be unveiled and Handicraft Trade Directory 2021 will be released on the occasion, according to the organizers.
