Arya Shrestha, 10, has grabbed the title of Miss Little Newa Nepal 1141 during a beauty pageant organized in Kathmandu on Saturday. Around two dozen little girls took part in the event organized by Nepalese Fashion Home at Rastriya Nachghar at Jamal, Kathmandu. Besides the crown, Arya also won Miss Photogenic and Miss Public Choice title awards on the occasion. During the Top Five round, chief judge of the event Ashok Babu Shrestha had asked the participants “Why they think Newari art, culture and tradition were important?” Her answer was: Culture is man made social concept, which is created for human civilization and their existential identity. This includes our language, festival, traditional dress as well as rituals. Without culture people do not have their social identity. Culture plays an important role in making humans civilized and disciplined.” Prarnidhi Manandhar won first runner up and Rikrishna Dangol won second runner up titles during the event. The winner received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 while the first and second runner ups got Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
