A group of people gathered and demonstrated in Kathmandu on Monday demanding the government to legalize marijuana in the country.
The demonstrators also sought the release of Rajiv Kafle, who was arrested two weeks ago on charges of possessing marijuana.
They have called the government to boost the country’s economy by legalizing marijuana. The protesters carried placards with slogans like “The country is not spoiled by marijuana smokers, but by the ones who don’t” and “Marijuana is the food of half of the Nepalis”. Two weeks ago, Nepal Police had arrested Kafle from Kathmandu on charges of consuming and selling marijuana. Marijuana has been legalized recently by governments in some western countries as well.
