Government of India has announced that it would to resume export of Covishield vaccines from next month.
India’s Union Minister for Health Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday that India will resume export and donations of surplus vaccines from October. He also informed that India would give the first priority to neighboring countries as it resumes supply of the vaccines as a part of its ‘Vaccine Maitri’ initiative. India, the world’s biggest manufacturer of vaccines overall, halted vaccine exports in April to focus on inoculating its own population as infections exploded, according to officials. India’s monthly vaccine output has more than doubled since April and it is set to quadruple to over 300 million doses next month according to Minister Mandaviya.
