The Chief Minister (CM) of Bagmati Province Asta Laxmi Shakya officially lost the majority in the Provincial Assembly after the CPN (Unified Socialist) withdrew its support on Sunday.
The CPN (Unified Socialist) sent a letter addressed to the secretary of the province stating that the party has withdrawn its support to the newly formed provincial government-led by Shakya.
Earlier, a meeting of Unified Socialist held at the Province Assembly Secretariat had taken a decision not to support the government of Bagmati Province.
Thirteen members of the Provincial Assembly who belonged to CPN-UML had quit the party to join the CPN- Unified Socialist led by Madhav Kumar Nepal. Meanwhile, the CPN U(S) has elected Rajendra Pandey as its Parliamentary Party leader. Pandey is likely to be appointed as the new CHief Minister of the Bagmati Province, as Shakya is certain to loose majority.
