The first shipment of the Japan-made AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 has landed in Kathmandu on Saturday. Out of 1.6 million doses of vaccine pledged by Japan government, 513,420 doses have arrived in Kathmandu in the first phase, according to an official at the Ministry of Health and Population. The vaccines provided by Japan under grant assistance reached Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu through Qatar airways, the ministry said in a statement. According to the ministry, another 287,000 doses of vaccines was delivered on Sunday. With this a total of 800,000 doses of Japan made AstraZeneca have arrived here by Sunday. The remaining eight lakh doses of vaccines will arrive next week. Japan-aid Astrazeneca vaccine will be administered to the senior citizens who received the first dose of Covishield earlier.
