Supporters of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli including youths and students affiliated to ruling CPN-UML have taken to the streets protesting against the Supreme Court’s verdict to reinstate House of Representatives that was dissolved by President Bidya Bhandari in May.
The apex court had also, in today’s verdict in the House dissolution case, issued an order to appoint Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister, legitimising his claim for the post.
Cadres of the National Youth Force affiliated to CPN – UML gathered in Maitighar Mandal near the court premises chanting slogan against the freshly passed verdict that goes against Oli’s step. “We are not bound to accept all the orders passed by the Supreme Court, be aware!” reads a banner carried by the demonstrators. Oli’s confidant and the former minister Mahesh Basnet was also present at the protests too, according to media reports.
